Established Kotani Patent Office in 1965 with name later changed to Sankyo Patent Attorneys Office in Jan. 1985. Served as a lecturer at Training Dept. of Japanese Intellectual Property Association from 1976 to 2010. Served as vice-chairman of Japan Patent Attorneys Association in 1985. Served as a vice-chairman of Japan Patent Attorneys Association of its western region from 1986 to 1989 and served as a chairman of the same from 1989 to 1991. Served as Patent Office Intellectual Property Council during Oct. 1989 to Sep. 1990. Served as a member of Claim Interpretation Committee of Intellectual Property Research Center Foundation during Oct 1990 to April 1991. Served as a member of Design Scope Clarification Committee of Intellectual Property Research Center Foundation during Aug. 1993 to March 1994. Served as research member of Patent Attorneys Central Intellectual Property Research Center Foundation during Sep. 1997 to March 2001. Served as Osaka District Civil Arbitration Committee Member (Intellectual Properties) during July 1999 to June 2009. Lecturing intellectual properties at Kyoto Institute of Technology during March 2000 to March 2016. Served as a Claim Interpretation committee member of Intellectual Property Research Center Foundation since Aug. 2001 to Mar. 2003. Serving as a Board member of Japan Association of Industrial Property Law since June 2006 to Mar 2012. Serving as a Guest Researcher for Konan Univ. Business Law Center since Dec. 2006 to Dec 2007. Also, served as Professor of Kibi Univ. IP Department Apr. 2008 to Mar 2013.

Honors and Awards

Received award from Minister of Trade & Industry Division for outstanding service in Intellectual Property System in 1992. Awarded the Yellow Ribbon Medal in April 1995.

Mr. Kawase joined Matsushita Electric Works Ltd. and worked in the intellectual property division for nearly forty years. Admitted to Japanese Patent Bar in 1971 and engaged as in-house counsel in intellectual property department. He joined Sankyo as a senior partner in 2000 and has been in charge of trademarks , design patents, copyrights, anti-unfair competition law, and contracts in general. He had served as Adjunct Lecturer at Kobe University from 1992 to 2004 and at Kansai University from 2001 to 2007. He was also lecturing Intellectual Properties course at Kyoto Seika University from 2008 to 2015 and is serving as Adjunct Lecturer at Kibi Univ. IP Department since Apr. 2017.

While working at Saegusa, she passed Japan Patent Bar Exam in 1992. Soon after the admission to the Patent Bar, she joined Sankyo in 1993, thereafter she joined Aoyama & Partners in 1998. Ms. Saitsu, after all years of experiences in the field of IP, she established her own office, Saitsu Trademark Office in 2007. Ms. Saitsu rejoined Sankyo in 2009.
